Megatampanada 2023

Route of the 1st edition of La Tampanada, which requires a good physical preparation to be able to do it. The route will go up towards Talarn to go down ZZ Top and look for the road that will take us to Roques Pelades. We will go down these to the Valkyries junction, which will give us a stretch of forest with more flow. Then we will face the Nerets area, to lower the MAF, and then a hard climb takes us to the electric tower where Arizona begins. From here we will face Bartotrail and Dalton to go through Tremp again and completely change terrain, because we will enter the Gessera area to navigate the White Line until the Puja de la Muerte, which will give us access to the floweriest and longest descent, the Scolopendra. Finally, paths deep in ravines will take us to Tremp.

On this route you must pay close attention to the weather!

Up to kilometer 30, the route can be done both on rainy days and on wet winter days.

The remaining kilometers correspond to the Gessera area, therefore, on days of intense rain, including the next day or days after, we will find a lot of clayey mud that will prevent us from driving, especially on the White Line and Escolopendra.

In winter, when the fog lifts, the sun melts the ice/frost from the shady areas of the trails, leaving a layer of clayey mud that will not allow us to drive in many parts of the route, especially on the White Line.

We do not present an alternative track, on days of adverse conditions we directly recommend doing the Driblant Lo Fang route.

The best conditions to do the full route are usually in the spring and autumn.

On days when the ground is wet and compact, due to rain and humidity in previous days/weeks, the best flu conditions are given to fly over the clay of our territory.

The route can be done perfectly, but you have to take into account that the route is long and we can be exposed to the sun and the midday heat.

Extreme caution must be taken on the descents, because the very dry clay does not have the grip desired by cyclists.

Extreme caution must be taken in the curves, at some points the sandstone terrain can present sandbars that can play tricks on us.

THE RULES OF THE TRAILS

Give way to other cyclists and walkers, warn of your arrival in time and slow down.

Do not scare the animals by shouting or making unnecessary noise. You are in their environment.

Take your dog on a leash, especially on the busiest trails.

Respect the signs or fences of private property or hunting grounds.

Follow the established routes, don’t take shortcuts.

Control speed and braking, avoiding skids that erode the ground unnecessarily.

Do not litter.

Avoid clayey areas on muddy days due to rain or fog. Respect the route symbols.

Check your bike before you go out and always carry a repair kit.

Use a helmet, wear gloves, goggles and protection.

Know your physical condition and choose the route based on it. Always evaluate the gradient, not just the distance.

Keep an eye on weather forecasts, they can be changeable.

It is recommended to do the routes with GPS navigation support. The routes are not physically signposted.

It is important to be insured in the practice of mountain biking, which is why we recommend obtaining a federal license or private accident insurance.
