Roques pelades

We will leave Tremp by trail to the village of Talarn, where we can get water at the Font de Caps. From here we will go in search of the Sílex path with its very aesthetic descent. Watch out at the entrance, as the loose sandstone can give us a bit of a scare. The Sílex trail will take us to the road that leads to Santa Engràcia, which we will follow until the entrance to Roques Pelades, a varied dirt trail that begins with a rock garden section, continuing with stone slabs and some very rolling sections in the Forest. We will cross the stone alley until we reach the lookout area, from which the part of the Roques Pelades ridge begins, the most technical area of stone slabs. If you’ve already noticed that your fork heats up once here, you can take the Valkyries variant, with more flow, and it will leave you at the same point. Once we have left the stony area, we will enter the forest until we find the beginning of the Santa Engràcia road, which we will cross below to return to Tremp via Ínsules.

The entire area of Roques Pelades has very good drainage, even on rainy days. Even so, after days of high humidity due to water or fog we can find mud at the beginning and end of the route. Since it is possible to avoid this part by road, we present an alternative track that avoids the conflict zones on days of rain or intense fog. We can also park the car at the Santa Engràcia crossroads starting and ending the route from there.

On days of heavy rain we may find that the stone slabs do not have the proper grip with the consequent risk of falling.

This route presents good conditions throughout the year.

On days when the ground is wet and compact, due to rain and humidity in previous days/weeks, the best grip conditions occur.

The route can be done perfectly, but you have to take into account that the climb is on asphalt, so we will avoid the hottest hours of the day.

THE RULES OF THE TRAILS

Give way to other cyclists and walkers, warn of your arrival in time and slow down.

Do not scare the animals by shouting or making unnecessary noise. You are in their environment.

Take your dog on a leash, especially on the busiest trails.

Respect the signs or fences of private property or hunting grounds.

Follow the established routes, don’t take shortcuts.

Control speed and braking, avoiding skids that erode the ground unnecessarily.

Do not litter.

Avoid clayey areas on muddy days due to rain or fog. Respect the route symbols.

Check your bike before you go out and always carry a repair kit.

Use a helmet, wear gloves, goggles and protection.

Know your physical condition and choose the route based on it. Always evaluate the gradient, not just the distance.

Keep an eye on weather forecasts, they can be changeable.

It is recommended to do the routes with GPS navigation support. The routes are not physically signposted.

It is important to be insured in the practice of mountain biking, which is why we recommend obtaining a federal license or private accident insurance.
